Foster Residence is a 2013 residential project in Austin, Texas by Architects Clayton & Little. The original 1938 one story, two-bedroom house grew to incorporate an enlarged master bedroom and bathroom on the first floor and a new 1,037-square-foot second story that includes two bedrooms, a playroom, a utility room and a bathroom. The main goal was to stay true to the vision of the neighborhood and that the overall scale and volume did not overwhelm. Kitchen and Dining’s drywalls were stripped to expose shiplap, and the playroom and upstairs porch have a treehouse vibe. Garage was replaced with a basketball court, giving the backyard a spacious feel. This remodel added more space with a modern edge to a young family’s home.
