Tabarka Studio has been handcrafting beautiful terracotta tile, one piece at a time, for more than twenty years. Seen above is a kitchen by Tribe Build Co. (Brandon Krueger) with a custom terracotta backsplash in all its splendor.

So, what style of backsplash is trending? As hinted, slab backsplashes are a stellar selection. Aside from the full slab look, and the aforementioned Tabarka tile, there’s another material making a name for itself: Zellige.

Zellige tiles are terracotta tiles from Morocco with a unique shimmer and subtle imperfections that add tons of character. Below is another kitchen by Tribe Build Co.—here we went with the Zellige Moroccan Sea Salt from Clé Tile as the link factor for all the accent features.

Available in a wide selection of colors and a few size options, this elegant glossy tile fully embodies artisan craftsmanship and beauty.
